– Detangle your hair extensions before washing, this will avoid hair from becoming tangled and lift away dirt. Do this before beginning to wash in order to give hair a thorough cleanse. Use a wide tooth comb or Beauty Works Boar Bristle brush to detangle hair.

– Once you have washed your hair please ensure you have fully dried it from root to tip, this will stop your hair and extensions from matting together. Also, sleep with either a low pony or loose plait.

– Select a haircare routine that’s suited for your hair extensions and hair type. We recommend Beauty Works products that are specifically formulated hair care lines that cater for your hair extensions and hair colour.

– Make sure to use a hydrating hair mask on the mid-lengths and ends, avoiding the root area as this could make your extensions slip and cause them to fall out.

– Protect your hair extensions by using a heat protection spray before blow drying and heat styling. Try to minimise the use of heat on your hair extensions as this will prevent damage, burning and discolouration.

– If you’re finding it difficult to style, use a clarifying shampoo to remove product build-up, hard water and dirt.

– Invest in a professional hair extension brush, and brush your hair more frequently from tip to root. This will not only keep your hair from unnecessary breakage and needing replacement more frequently, but it will also help to keep your natural hair in optimum condition too. Pulling at the root of your extensions with the incorrect brush can tug your extensions out, resulting in hair loss, thinning and damage to the root.

– There are certain chemicals in sunscreen such as avobenzone, and octocrylene which when both come in contact with hair extensions can cause discolouration, so please avoid your hair extensions coming into contact with areas the sunscreen is applied.

– Regular refits are a must to keep your natural hair and extensions in top condition.
